Landscapes of Desire

with John Peacock

Saturday 26th April and Sunday 27th April 2008

There is a paradox that lies at the very heart of Buddhist thought and practice. The paradox is that we are enjoined to eradicate desire, but that we also need to "desire" to be free of desire. Simply, we desire to end desire. During this weekend we will examine desire in all of its manifestations, both "good" and "bad", that are articulated in the early texts of Buddhism in an attempt to understand what exactly we are trying to liberate ourselves from.

Times

09.00 am to 5.00 pm on Saturday

09.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sunday

Location

Khandro Ling, 17-27 Pierce Street, Macclesfield SK11 6ER

Donations

Buddhist teachings the and practices derived from them are very precious and we are fortunate to have access to them.

Wherever possible we make no charge for buddhist teaching, but it is beneficial to make offerings to our teachers for their kindness in sharing their knowledge and experience with us, and we do have to cover our running costs to make the facilities available.

Heating, lighting, building maintenance, publicity, travel expenses and food for visiting teachers, the creation of a suitable and beneficial environment for meditation and practice, administration costs and so on all have to be paid for. Costs are always kept to a minimum, and people often volunteer their time, energy and skill.

So please be as generous as you can in your support as this brings benefit both to the giver and those receiving. The continuity of the dharma centre and community is dependent upon our kindness, and in practicing this we show that kindness works.

If you wish you can Gift Aid on a regular or one-off basis. Doing this enables us to claim tax relief on the original offering. Please ask for a form.
